Who Has Your Information?

Thanks to PIPEDA (Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act) companies are now required to destroy any personal information that they collect about you that is not relevant to your business dealings with them in a safe and
thoughtful way.

Also good to know – businesses are only allowed to ask for information that is crucial to the transaction. If they ask for more, you are entitled to ask why and refuse to share it if the reasoning isn’t sound.
